Assistant Dance Teaching Training for Learners with Disabilities

Assistant Instructor Training (AIT) is ideal for those just starting out. This fully online program includes four levels and can be completed at the learner’s own pace, making it flexible and accessible.

For learners seeking a formal qualification, we also offer the Certificate III in Assistant Dance Teaching, delivered through our RTO partner Empower Dance. Learning is supported online, allowing participants to progress at their own pace while building practical, work-ready skills.

Perform-Ability Assistant Instructor Training (AIT)

The Perform Ability Assistant Instructor Training (AIT) program was originally developed to support Perform Ability students to work towards their personal goals and build confidence as they prepare for future employment pathways in dance and performance.

The program is now open to the wider community for individuals who meet the eligibility criteria and have an interest in developing assistant teaching skills within an inclusive performing arts environment.

AIT is a structured, online training pathway designed to support skill development, confidence, and work readiness. Participants are supported by Perform Ability–trained instructors and engage in regular skills development and progress check-ins.

To be eligible for the AIT program, applicants must:

Be willing to participate in weekly group skills training with a Perform Ability–trained instructor

Hold (or be willing to obtain) a Working With Children Check

Take part in monthly progress reviews with their Perform Ability trainer

Have access to a computer with a camera, microphone, and reliable internet

Have a passion for dance, be open to learning effective communication skills, and feel comfortable taking direction and sharing their creativity in supportive learning environments

The AIT program provides a supportive foundation for individuals who wish to grow their skills and confidence while working towards future assistant teaching opportunities within inclusive dance settings.

Cert III Assistant Dance Teaching (RTO)

As an approved ELEVATE provider, Perform Ability supports students to use their regular classes as part of their qualification, creating a flexible, accessible pathway into assistant teaching and future employment. The program is designed to support learners of all abilities, combining structured education with inclusive, real-world dance training.

ELEVATE offers a supported, professional pathway for dancers ready to take the next step toward qualifications, confidence, and career opportunities in inclusive dance education.

Testimonials

My teenage son has found his place at Perform Ability!!! The teachers are amazing, caring and supportive. The range of classes is excellent, from different styles of dance to singing, drama and musical theatre - there is an option for everyone. The opportunity to participate in the showcases at the end of the year concert were incredible for my son and his self confidence has grown so much for having a community where he feels a sense of belonging.

In that time Ryan has not only enjoyed dancing but has danced at many different Venues and been a part of some amazing opportunities. Ryan has gained confidence, learnt new dances, made new friendships all in a caring and supportive environment. Miranda and her gifted, talented and professional Teachers have provided a safe, fun dance studio for all the students that attend.
